Inspiration for this post? You followers. I realised that you guys aren’t from the part of world that I am from – Southeast Asia. I was born and bred in Singapore. Heard of it? I always ask people if they know about my tiny island. So I am going to share pictures of my country, as well as the neighbouring countries. I would love to share my experiences with you!
I’ve been wanting to send a photo to Lonely Planet Asia but I was really busy with school and work. I know that’s not an excuse but I’m someone who puts in effort when I do work, not just do it for the sake of doing it. Choosing pictures might sound simple but it’s not. Especially for publications like Lonely Planet. It must be read-worthy.
This was my submission! It was supposed to be Nov/Dec 2011 issue but somehow the person missed the dateline so here it is, printed on the Jan/Feb 2012 issue.
“When I need to escape the hustle and bustle of Singapore’s hectic life, even for just one day, I run away to Bintan. The kids in Singapore are busy with school, co-curricular activities, tuition, and extra classes, the kids in Bintan spend their days flying kite, swimming, fishing and catching butterflies! I captured the boys as they began their kite-flying on the shore. They then moved into the sea, floating on their backs as they watched their kite soared up in the sky.”
And this is the original picture. I adjusted the levels. That’s the only editing I did.
