We all know that Singapore Sling was concocted in Long Bar, Raffles Hotel. A trip to Singapore isn’t complete until you have tried this cocktail. Rumour has it that no two Singapore Slings taste the same, so apart from its birthplace, check out these ones too!
Poolside Bar, Marina Bay Sands
Hands down, this the best Singapore Sling I’ve ever had! Ingredients balance each other; you could taste each and every one of them. You’ll die happy if you sip Singapore Sling while sprawling on the pool chair or – better still – taking a dip in the Infinity Pool. The downside is you have to be a guest in order to have a drink or dip. No complimentary drink, but every cent of that $18 is worth it.

Sky On 57, Marina Bay Sands
The Singapore Sling here is more on the sour side. Not what I expected, but it is definitely refreshing. Outdoor seats (smoking and non-smoking) are fantastic with stunning views of Singapore’s skyline which extends to the Singapore Flyer. You can also check out the hot babes in the Infinity Pool on the right. $20 for a cocktail might be a tad expensive, but that’s the price you pay for a good drink and a fab view. Welcome to Singapore.

The fresh lime and pineapple juice in the Singapore Sling here take you on a tropical journey which awakens your taste buds! You get the sweet, sour and bitter taste from one sip. I must warn you, this cocktail leans towards the sweeter side, so for those without a sweet tooth, get a glass of water! The ambiance is impressive – colourful paintings on the walls, strings of bright lights fringing the restaurant, and plants cascading down…this is the coolest place ever to have the Singapore Sling. Only five people in the world know the exact formula of Angostura bitters, did I not mention the hint of it makes the experience even more exotic?

Gravity Bar, Carlton Hotel
Located just opposite its birthplace, the Singapore Sling in Gravity Bar has big shoes to fill! Alcohol content is mild, a good way to start the evening, especially when the night is young! If you plan on shopping or watching a three-hour Bollywood movie, you don’t have to worry about a thing. While you’re at it, enjoy one of the city’s largest collections of single malt whiskey. Have another drink or two, come on.

This is definitely a good place to try the Singapore Sling if sweet drinks aren’t your cup of…cocktail. The grenadine is barely there; it felt like I was drinking unsweetened fresh juice! The alcohol content is low so this is good for those who are “allergic” to alcohol.
